New Camaro wows the Detroit auto show attendees ... General Motors Corp. will bring back the Chevrolet Camaro muscle car to compete with its longtime rival, the Ford Mustang. In late 2004, Ford began selling the redesigned Mustang with styling reminiscent of the original design. NOW, the vice chairman of global product development at GM Bob Lutz, has introduced a Camaro concept car at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Jan. 9. The concept car had a Corvette-inspired 6.0-liter V8 under the futuristic long-hood design that cranks out 400 horsepower, tied to a six-speed manual and a fully independent suspension with 21-inch wheels in front and 22-inchers to the rear. Those who saw it called it "striking." GM had stopped making the Camaro in 2002 when sales dwindled to 28,404. The vice chairman added that they must sell about 160,000 of the cars a year to justify bringing it back. The new Camaro could begin appearing in dealer showrooms as early as 2009. Did You Know? The Camaro debuted as a 1967 model in late 1966, two years after the Mustang, and sold 699,000 it's first three years.

American Idol goes to Syndication ... "American Idol" fans can look forward to getting more than a once-a-year fix as past editions of the Fox talent show will air in weekend syndication beginning in September. "American Idol Rewind" will premiere this fall with the first season of American Idol and will offer a "streamlined, enhanced program" with unseen footage and behind-the-scenes information, according to its producers. The reruns will give viewers their first chance to "track each winner throughout the season, from beginning to final performance," Simon Fuller, creator of American Idol, said in a statement. The original Fox series recently kicked off it's fifth season with its most-watched Idol season opener yet. Past winners of American Idol were Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino and Carrie Underwood.

Amateur Video Sharing is Growing ... The digital video revolution is here. There's no shortage today of sites willing to accept your video, and once issues of revenues, copyright and ease of use get sorted out, the sharing of personal video promises to become as commonplace as photo-sharing is today. Most digital cameras sold since 2004 can shoot video and so can newer models of cellular phones. Thanks to faster Internet connections and better online video technology, the sharing of amateur video is much easier, whether it be amomg friends and family or budding filmmakers promoting themselves in hopes of becoming an Internet sensation. It is a new frontier for sure and the gray areas and rules are being worked out as we speak. It's for that reason the video-sharing sites all have varying strategies for how their services will work. The bottom lines is - people want to share - things they've done, places they've been or creations they've made and ... there is never a shortage of ... people who like to watch.

Google launches a challenge to Microsoft ... Let's Git-'er-on!... The rivalry between Google and Microsoft is on. The search engine leader, Google has unveiled a package of services that offers a direct challenge to Microsofts' dominance of the home-computing market. It recently launched Google Pack, an alliance of companies that will offer a package of personal computer programs, FREE for internet surfers to download. The Google Pack is only available however, for Windows XP users. It includes an impressive list of programs such as: the Google Toolbar, a Desktop Search feature, a Photo screensaver and the 3D Earth browser of Google Earth. Also included is Picasa's Photo organizer, the Firefox browser, anti-virus software from Norton, a media platform from Realplayer, an Antispyware utility from Lavasoft called Ad-Aware SE Personal and Adobe Acrobat's document reader.
Google also announced ... Google Video
The video service will enable consumers to buy downloads of television programs such as popular entertainment shows and pro basketball games under a Google Video Store brand. It will allow content providers to post their videos for downloading on Google's online store. Providers will then decide on pricing and copy protection, and the video would be viewed via Google's own media player. For more information, see: Google Video. Also see its Video Support and
Google Pack Help.
... and finally, there's this story...
Everywhere you look in stores, it's ... i-this and i-that ...
referring of course to the phenomenal success of the iPod, the portable music player from Apple. 42 million of the media players have been sold in just four years. This success has benefited many other companies that make accessories and gadgets for the device too. But, are you ready for this? The latest news in the iPod accessory market comes from the Jeans giant Levi Strauss, when they unveiled its RedWire DLX Jeans at the Macworld Expo conference in San Francisco. Available for men and women this fall, the Jeans will be iPod compatible, meaning the "pants have special pockets" for a docking cradle, joystick and headphones ... all built directly into the jeans. (An iPod docking cradle is invisibly housed within a side pocket, a special joystick remote control is externally designed into the jeans' watch pocket to enable operation of the iPod and a handy retractable headphone unit has been built directly into the jean to manage the iPod earphone wires.)
Now more than ever, Moms' must read the washing labels: check pockets before washing, failure to do so may void warranty. For more new products from the Macworld Expo, click here.

HUSBAND: "Probably, it's almost new ... stop asking questions."
WIFE: "Would you give her my jewelry?"
HUSBAND: "No, I'm sure she'd want her own jewelry."

What is Windows Registry?
The registry is the central storage for all your computers' data configuration, including the Windows system configuration, its hardware configuration for devices, information about installed programs, the types of documents that programs can create and user preferences are all stored in the registry. As a general rule, don't mess with the registry unless you have to.
Editing the registry improperly can seriously cripple your Windows system. If you're not into playing the role of a geek, find an expert you trust.
Why do you ever need to make changes to the registry? The most common reason is because some adware or spyware infected your computer and messed it up. They can get inside your computer simply because you made a visit to a web site of a dubious nature. It can happen even if you use a firewall and anti-virus software. This article from Microsoft
has a description and information about editing the registry.

What is Internet Phone Service?
It's phone service using an Internet broadband connection. This new technology is called Voice-Over IP, or VoIP for short. It lets you make and receive phone calls by using your Internet high-speed connection, but operates independently of your computer, thus you can make and receive calls while surfing the web. Regular handset phones are used (you don't speak through your computer).
With VoIP, you can replace your current phone company but keep your existing phone number. You use regular telephones at both ends, (the number you are calling does not need to have an Internet connection or computer). VoIP is available for as low as $9.95 per month. Read about it here.
What is Event Viewer?
It's a troubleshooting tool on your computer that displays detailed information about system events regarding your hardware, software, and system components in order to help you identify and diagnose the source of your pc's system problems, such as serious errors or computer crashes. It records the events in three separate logs: Application, Security and System. For step-by-step guides on how to use the Event Viewer, click the appropriate link for your system.
