Doctors Don't Always See Hospital Test Results... Many doctors don't follow up on test results pending for patients who have been released from a hospital, running the risk of missing some major medical problems, a new report contends. At two American hospitals, the study authors found that doctors didn't know about 65 of 105 test results that came back after patients had been discharged. The hospitals were not identified, but the researchers said they are both academic centers in Boston. About 41 percent of the patients had test results due when they left the hospitals. More than 60 percent of the time, the responding doctors said they didn't know about the test results, one-third said they didn't even know the tests had been ordered. The moral of this study suggests that patients should ask questions about pending test results and never assume that no news is good news when it comes to waiting for a test result. Fashion Magazines Showing More ... Body Types
Mixed among the pages of dazzling celebrities and rail-thin models that dominate fashion and teen magazines is a surprising sight: young women with thick thighs and flabby abs.
In Seventeen, Teen People, CosmoGirl! and Teen Vogue are bathing suit sections partly illustrated by less-than-perfect figures and tips on maximizing assets and minimizing defects. Editors say they are using more average women and fewer models to reflect changing body types and to help self-conscious teens see that not everyone is perfect. "It's not going to help my reader if we only show girls who are size 6's," said Atoosa Rubenstein, editor of Seventeen magazine. "Everyone is beautiful, it's just a matter of confidence, and we try to show that. We choose girls in malls, on the street, and anywhere we can find them."

How To Use "End Task" ...
to solve a System Lockup and save time without rebooting:

Did a program on your PC just lock up? Before you reboot your system entirely, there's one last hope: Try ending the current task. Oftentimes (but not always), you can close only the program that caused the problem, and get back to work.

Press Ctrl-Alt-Del on your keyboard (JUST ONCE) to open the Close Program dialog box (some systems, you may need to select Task Manager tab),
On the Applications tab, you should see one item that reads "Not Responding"
Select that application,
Click End Task and you'll see a message pop-up telling you the selected application is not responding,
Click End Now (or End Task again), and with any luck, Windows will proceed to close just that program. You should now be able to re-open that application and return to your work.

(Note: Unfortunately, in some cases, if pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del does absolutely nothing, or if trying to end a task results in a total lock-up, you're flat outta luck and it's time to reboot.)

Google launches instant messaging service ...
The new program, Google Talk, will compete against similar free services offered by America Online (41.6 million users), Yahoo (19.1 million), and MSN Messenger (14.1 million). Google Talk features a basic user interface with few graphics, much like the main Google search site. It does not spawn pop-up windows or display ads like America Online's Instant Messenger but does require users to have an account with their free Gmail e-mail system. Gmail previously was available only to those invited by a current account holder, but now Google is opening up registration to anyone in the United States. Learn about Google Talk here.

Google also has just updated its Desktop Search Program. Google Desktop 2 includes several new tools and features along with better security measures. Read about it here.
